Jagan offered Rs.1,500cr to recommend his name for CM post: Farooq Abdullah

National Conference chief and ex-chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, alleged that YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy offered him Rs.1,500 crore to recommend his name for the CM’s post in Andhra Pradesh, to the then AICC president Sonia Gandhi during the Congress rule, after the death of Jagan’s father and former chief minister late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

“I still remember Jagan’s words. They remained in my memory because I wondered how could his father earn so much money,” the NC chief said.

Abdullah, along with Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu, was addressing a public gathering in Kadapa. The ex-J&K CM suggested that the people vote for the Telugu Desam Party, as he said, it had been working for their welfare.

Alleging that Jagan Mohan Reddy has a secret pact with the BJP, which has been trying to stall development in the state and for the same reason did not accord Special Category Status, Abdullah said people to be wary of voting to the YSRC.

“If you vote to corrupt leaders, you will lose peace,” he explained. Abdullah said Naidu was leaving no stone unturned to supply water to Rayalaseema for the welfare of farmers and is equally working for all sections of people in Andhra Pradesh.
