1,000% sure that TDP would be voted back to power: Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said he was 1,000% confident that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) would return to power in the state on May 23rd, the day election verdict will be out. He said that the present TDP government’s tenure would end on June 8 and advised the party cadre to be cautious till the poll results were out.
He suggested the party leaders to thank the electorate for standing in queues for long and exercised their right to vote, for TDP candidates. Naidu held a meeting with the party candidates who contested the 2019 polls in Amaravati and discussed the voting trend and future course of action.
He said that he had never seen such an improper election, where all rules were violated and money was spent in large amounts, in his political career. He said that there was a threat to the democracy due to the illegalities that occurred in the polling process.
However, he exuded confidence that the TDP would be voted to power, despite conspiracies by the rivals. He suggested that the party leaders resolve all the problems being faced by the public, till the TDP government is put in place after the poll results are declared.
When asked if the Chief Minister can hold a press meet in his camp office, he ridiculed Prime Minister Modi for holding a Cabinet meeting in his camp office. He said that it would be better if the government can follow the same rules everywhere.
He said that the Centre was ordering the income tax (I-T) and enforcement directorate (ED) officials to conduct raids in Andhra Pradesh but not directing for at least one raid in neighbouring Telangana. He said that the Central Bureau of Investigation, I-T, ED and the poll panel had been ruthless with the TD leaders in the state.
He accused Modi of destroying all the constitutional bodies in the country. Further, Naidu claimed that Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPATs) came into the scene only because the TD insisted on it and criticised the ECI for holding the polls without giving proper training to the polling staff. He said that there is talk that the BJP would not get more than 160 seats at the Centre.
