EC acting at the behest of BJP & YSRC: AP CM

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the Election Commission of India in Andhra Pradesh was taking unilateral decisions. In protest against the EC, Mr Naidu  held a token  protest at the state CEO office. He met the state CEO and handed over an 8-page representation denouncing the transfers of government officials and I-T raids on TDP leaders, after the election code came into effect.
“The EC is giving appointment to the leaders of the Opposition party, who are guilty in many economic offences. They are meeting the ECI officials and the next day, orders regarding transfer of government officials are being issued.  This has happened with regard to transfer of three police officers and this strengthened the perception of the neutral voters that the ECI is only listening to the Opposition party, which is closely associated with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre,” he said.
Naidu lamented that the complaints filed by the TD have not been addressed so far by the Election Commission of India. The deliberate inaction on the part of the election commission of India on the complaints filed by the TDP leaders and prompt action on the complaints filed by the YSR Congress only strengthens the suspicion that the ECI has been toeing the line of the Union government led by Bharatiya Janata Party, he said.
He pointed out that ever since the election dates were announced and code of conduct came into force, income tax authorities have been targeting only the  TD candidates, thus creating an atmosphere of fear and  terror and  violating  the model code of conduct.
“The ECI had shown discrimination. No candidate belonging to other political parties was targeted, projecting a message that the TDP candidates and sympathisers alone were the culprits, thereby encouraging other parties to make false complaints against the TDP,” Naidu added.
