Naidu plans to visit Chennai ahead of Modi’s visit

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to meet Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Congress leaders in Chennai. However, since DMK president is campaigning for the elections at Tiruvarur, it is said that Naidu will hold a meeting with senior DMK leaders R.S. Bharathy and T.K.S. Elangovan.

Meanwhile, former minister and DMK member Mullaivendan met AMMK’s Dharmapuri candidate Palaniappan and extended support to him.  Earlier, Mullaivendan was suspended from the DMK for violating the party rules. He also met PMK youth wing president Anbumani Ramadoss, a few days ago.

The DMK president wrote a letter to his party cadre that they have the support of the people and exuded confidence that they be voted to power. He faulted the Election Commission of India (ECI) for failing to stop the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) from bribing the voters.

The general elections were held in Andhra Pradesh last week and Naidu complained to the ECI about the malfunctioning of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and also garnered support  from the opposition parties to his demand of verification of 50 per cent of the voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) with the EVMs, to check if the EVMs were tampered.
