Former TTD chief calls Jagan ‘Lord Vishnu’; social media can’t stop laughing

A.V. Ramana Deekshitulu, after being reinstated as the chief priest of Tirumala temple following the YSRCP government’s decision to induct retired priests of Mirasi families, equated the act to saving Dharma by Lord Vishnu. He indirectly hailed Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as one among the Trimurthis keen to protect Dharma.
“Whenever there is threat to Dharma, Lord Vishnu takes birth to protect it,” Deekshitulu said. He thanked Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy on behalf of all the hereditary priests, who were inducted back into the TTD fold.
Ramana Deekshitulu, along with three others of the Mirasi Archakas, were forced to retire under the TDP rule, following the TTD’s controversial decision that priests crossing the age of 65 years should take retirement.
Later, Deekshitulu met YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy reportedly poured out woes of the hereditary archakas before him, following which Reddy promised to restore the hereditary rights of the priests.
Deekshitulu alleged that the TDP government was not hearing their problems nor resolving them. After Jagan assumed charge, he kept his word and Deekshitulu praised him for the act.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh BJP official spokesperson Bhanu Prakash Reddy took exception to Deekshitulu drawing similarities between Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Lord Vishnu. Bahnu Prakash Reddy said that Ramana Deekshitulu’s statements would put the sanctity of the TTD in jeopardy.
He said that there was no truth in the statement that there were no non-Hindus in the TTD and demanded that all the non-Hindus should be transferred to other departments. He also demanded that Ramana Deekshitulu should quit his post if he was interested in making political statements.
The priest has been in the news over the last few years for all the wrong reasons. Ramana Deekshithulu’s controversial attitude has brought a lot of discontentment between hereditary priests within the TTD. A cold war was prevailing between priests at the sacred abode of Lord Venkateswara.
According to sources in the TTD, it was heard that “a heated argument took place between Ramana Deekshithulu and the then chief priest Venugopala Deekshithulu over the issue of bringing up flowers from outside sources and lighting a lamp inside the temple with the ghee brought from Ramana Deekshithulu’s house. It is a violation of temple tradition and practices that are in vogue at this temple since time immemorial.”
Following such controversial actions of Ramana Deekshithulu, many TTD priests reportedly had an issue with the way rituals were being conducted for Lord Venkateswara. However, it is evident that with this move, Jagan is still on the path of his vendetta politics as Ramana Deekshitulu was removed during the TDP’s government, given his age of retirement.
On the other hand, it needs to be recollected how the BJP and YSRCP chose Ramana Deekshitulu as a political pawn at a time when they wanted to target the TDP. However, it is now a wonder about how a retired and controversial priest such as Ramana Deekshitulu is now equating a practising Christian CM to Lord Vishnu.

Many in the state are wondering about how such shameful comparisons and insults to Hindu gods are being openly propagated in Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, Twitterati has been having a ball with such comparison. Several memes and jokes are doing rounds on this statement and we cannot stop laughing!
