TDP is synonymous with virtue: Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu exuded confidence that the Telugu Desam Party would retain power in the state. He said that all four surveys which he had initiated, revealed the same and suggested that the party activists need not fear about defeat.
He said that the party was permanent and that elections would be held every five years. After the results of Assembly and general elections are out, the local body polls would be held, he said and added that the activists should strive to be victorious even in those elections.
“Contesting in elections alone should not be the priority,” he said and suggested that the party activists should also have knowledge and study about politics in the state and the country. He said that the welfare programmes implemented by the TDP government would save the party from rout and added that nature was acting in favour of the party.
He was speaking at a review meeting on Kurnool and Nandyal Parliamentary constituencies in Amaravati  and exuded confidence that the TDP would bag both the constituencies. He said that he had completed review about six parliamentary constituencies, adding that he would hold review meetings about two constituencies per day.
Naidu said that the TDP would play a prominent role in the national politics. He said that the general elections were supposed to be held in May but the BJP-led NDA government advanced it, only to reduce the winning prospects for the TDP. However, this move has been a blessing in disguise, he added. He said that the beneficiaries of various schemes get their benefits in the first week of a month and that by holding the elections in the second week, the Centre did a good thing.
He said that the TDP was a synonym for virtue and YSR Congress for vice. The YSRC is bluffing to people even though it knows that it would lose the elections, he said, reminding that it played the same game during the last elections. He said there were no chances for Modi to be elected as the Prime Minister as the BJP is sure to get defeated in the country.
He said that all political parties had come together to fight against the BJP and added that Modi was not in a position to recollect the benefit had done to the people in the last five years. Instead, he is speaking about former PM Rajeev Gandhi , who died 28 years ago.
He slammed Modi for trying to benefit from the sacrifices of the Army men in the elections, indirectly hinting at the Pulwama massacre. He alleged that Modi had been trying to divide the country on caste, regional and religious differences. “The BJP has been trying to rule the state by dividing it. US-based TIME magazine published an article describing Modi as the most unsuccessful PM,” he said.
He said the party activists, Seva Mitras, booth and area conveners put in hard work considering themselves as party candidates. He claimed that the TDP has brought about development in five years, which the other parties could not do in 40 years. He said that several programmes were implemented for the welfare of women and that he had spent Rs. 1 lakh-crore on BCs, SCs, STs and minorities.
In the same breath, he said farmers’ loans to the tune of Rs. 24,000 crore were waived by the TDP government. Further, he said that Rs. 14,000 crore was given in the form of input subsidies. He said that money, caste and religion would not work out in every elections. People will not believe in those concepts all the time, he said and added that he was not biased against any caste or religion.
