AP to resume flight services from tomorrow

The Union Civil Aviation Ministry has begun allowing flights to operate from today across the country. However, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to resume services from tomorrow with limitation. Additionally, West Bengal too has restricted air travel for its people in the state.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted last night stating “As per request of state government, operations in Andhra Pradesh will recommence on limited scale from May 26.” On the whole, 15-20 flights which were scheduled today have been cancelled.
According to government sources, only 20% of the summer schedules will be followed by Vijayawada and Vizag airports. The state government did not state any reason as to why it is limiting operations. But, internal sources mention that the state government may not have clarity on quarantine procedures and hence, may have taken such a decision.
Meanwhile, COVID19 cases in the state are seeing a spike again with Sunday registering nearly 48 new cases, taking the total number to over 2787 cases as on today.
