Deceptive Govt Job Calendar sparks protests by AP Student Unions

The student unions of Andhra Pradesh held a protest at the office of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission to express their disappointment with the recently released job calendar of the state government. The protests erupted as a result of a misleading job calendar which indicates the wrong number of vacancies in the government.
The police said that students tried to protest without permission. The representatives of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), Students' Federation of India (SFI), and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) participated in the protest.
“The job calendar recently issued by the state government is not in accordance with the vacancies. Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy had promised before elections that he would fill up all vacancies in government jobs. But now he changed his words,” said an angry student.
The government had earlier announced that 6,500 constables and SI jobs will be recruited every year. “But in the job calendar, only 450 posts are notified. This is just one example. The calendar states are thousands of posts are vacant in Group 1, group 2 categories. But, in reality, only 10,000 posts are yet to be filled up,” student union leaders elaborated.
They further said that they have been waiting for government jobs for years and this job calendar came as a shocker to them. “It is merely an eyewash calendar. We demand the government to conduct mega DSC and fill the vacancies in all govt departments,” they added.
With the Jagan government misleading students and many youth about the available jobs in the government sector, it looks like this is going to be a huge challenge for the YSRCP in the days ahead as governance and development have already taken a backseat in the state.
