Pregnant woman carried in sling as ambulance couldn’t reach village

A 30-year-old pregnant woman was carried in a sling for 8 km to a hospital from Kothavalasa tribal hamlet in V Madugula mandal in Visakhapatnam district.
She got the 108 vehicle at Sankaram village as it could not reach her village because of the muddy road due to the continuous rain for three days.
Janapareddi Devi delivered a baby girl at KJ Puram primary health centre where she was admitted. Both the mother and her baby are stable, according to MPDO Poli Naidu, who rushed to the hospital following directive by the district collector V. Vinay Chand to ensure better medical treatment for woman.
Poli Naidu while speaking to the media said that the woman in labour was advised to get hospitalised at least three days before her schedule delivery. Since her family waited till the last minute, her condition deteriorated.
Srinivas, a native of V Madugula said at least 30 hamlets in the mandal have no road connectivity. Expressing concern over the incident, Paderu MLA K. Bhagyalakshmi said steps would be taken so that such incidents do not get repeated in the future.
