New Visa Rules: Why the US needs immigrants now more than ever

Do you know that America, after the Coronavirus pandemic, will need more immigrants than ever before?
Here are 5 reasons why:
  1. America is a world leader because of its openness to immigrants: It became a land of opportunities for any person willing to take the risk and put their talent to test and thrive. The race for excellence and merit is what the US respects and survives on and that is the trait which makes it a world leader in attracting global talent.
  1. Immigrants contribute to job creation: There are several entrepreneurs among immigrants who have created big companies which have provided large-scale employment to millions of native Americans. Given that the average immigrant-owned business hires 11 employees, these businesses would account for between 3.7 million and 5.2 million jobs in the formal economy.
  1. Immigrants pay higher taxes to the US government: Undocumented immigrants pay an average of $11.64 billion in state and local taxes a year. Moreover, all immigrants —regardless of status — contribute approximately $80,000 more in taxes than government services used over their lifetime.
  1. Immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native Americans: Studies have confirmed that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans and they are associated with lower crime rates. Also because immigrants fear being deported or facing any violation, they are usually more careful in abiding by the laws of the land than the natives.
  1. Immigrants sustain America’s social security fund: Take Social Security for instance. According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), unauthorized immigrants — who are not eligible to receive Social Security benefits — have paid an eye-popping $100 billion into the fund over the past decade. Without immigrants, the Social Security Board of Trustees projects that the system will no longer be able to pay the full promised benefits by 2037.
