Social distancing norms flouted as AP kicks off fleet of ambulances

It seems like there is no Coronavirus for politicians in the YSR Congress Party. At an event where Chief Minister Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy inaugurated new ambulances with service numbers 104 and 108, social distancing went for a toss. In fact, it even looked like there wasn’t any issue with them flouting the norms.
Despite the number of COVID-19 cases rising in Andhra Pradesh drastically, YSRCP leaders paid no heed to the mandatory norms and instead behaved callously.  A large number of people gathered, danced to popular songs, and burst firecrackers to celebrate the launch. Surprisingly, even the police present at the occasion did not take any action against YSRCP leaders for flouting the safety norms.
According to Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) spokesperson K. Pattabhiram, another fraud in the name of 104 and 108 ambulance services is being committed. He questioned whether CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has “given a birthday gift of Rs. 307 crores project to MP V Vijayasai Reddy, who is a co-accused in Jagan’s corruption case.”
He alleged that “ambulances project contract was given to Vijayasai Reddy’s in-law Ramprasad Reddy’s Aurobindo Foundation with a premeditated plan to plunder huge public money under the garb of extending medical services to the poor people. For this, the Government has stooped down to the extent of changing the clauses in judicial review.”
Also, some media reports mentioned an incident where a newly inaugurated 104 ambulance met with an accident soon after the launch.
While all of this seems like the ruling party’s publicity stunt, it would be better if the state tackles the Virus better rather than a show of the YSRCP’s strength at any given occasion!
