Antarvedi fire mishap points to a deeper malice under Jagan Govt

The chariot of the famous Sri Lakshmi Narasimha temple in Antarvedi of East Godavari district was gutted in a fire mishap on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The chariot, built over 60 years back, was used for special occasions and rituals at the temple. The chariot kept under a shed went up in flames and before anyone could reach there, it was gutted completely.

While the incident has shocked everyone across the state, it also points to a deeper malice and violence within the state. There are several questions that need to be answered. Some of them being: How did only the chariot catch fire? Was it done by any miscreants? Is this an indication of deeper religious differences that the current government is trying to bring?
It is not a one off incident of temples that one can throw under the carpet. The current Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy-led government along with the BJP pulled off a similar issue with the Simhachalam Temple board by involving in matters outside its jurisdiction. Similarly, with Srisailam having churches around and now Antarvedi temple fire accident also point to how the future of the state is going to be.
According to sources, this is the first time that the BJP is trying to bring the religious divide among people. “Until now, AP has always been obsessed with caste and there have been protests and differences regarding that. But, with YSRCP playing along with the BJP, the religious divide among people in AP is going to smash the future of the state,” he added.
Going by the government’s reaction seeking people not to communalise the incident, one wonders whether the YSRCP itself added a communal angle to the whole incident. Additionally BJP’s Somu Veeraaju has been doing more damage to the state, than any good. By introducing and feeding the religious divide among people, the BJP is trying to create space for itself within the state.
Unfortunately, the people of Andhra Pradesh, as Chandrababu Naidu has said, have been paying a heavy price for giving the YSRCP a thumping majority. We need to wait and watch how much worse the state of politics is going to get from here on!
