Coordinated plan? TDP offices across Andhra attacked; employees beaten with sticks & hammers

In a massive jolt to Andhra, Telugu Desam Party offices and their employees have been attacked brutally, allegedly by YSR Congress party workers. According to video footage available from the party office, YSRCP goons carrying sticks and hammers barged into the offices and vandalised the place, following which they also attacked some of the workers in the office.

According to sources in the Telugu Desam Party, miscreants entered their central office in Mangalagiri along with a similar attack on other offices in districts across the state. Further, TDP spokesperson Pattabhi’s house also has been vandalised. The attacks appear like well planned and well coordinated ones as the strikes have happened at different places in a similar manner. The timing of these attacks came as a surprise because there has hardly been any trigger point.

Reacting harshly to these attacks, TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu condemned them and apparently is preparing to write a letter to the Union Home Minister calling it “state-sponsored terrorism.”

Calling it an attack on Democracy, Chandrababu said: “This is a failure of the police and the current government. I had called the DGP but to no avail. Immediately, I tried calling local police who paid no heed. Then, I was compelled to call the Governor and inform him of these incidents. Law and order has collapsed in the state under Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy government.”

“These attacks are known to the DGP and the Chief Minister. All these are happening along with several illegal activities in the state. For instance, the current government is also responsible for a growing drugs business which is expanding to other states,” he added, speaking to the media.

In view of these attacks, the Telugu Desam Party has called for a state-wide bandh. “This is not Pulivendula’s rule. They are attacking us directly, not even hiding it anymore. Why is this government trying to instill fear in us in order to silence us for questioning the CM? I appeal to the people of Andhra Pradesh, Democracy is crippling in the state. Attacks on media, people and political parties are not acceptable.”

“This is a serious situation and people need to respond and that too, with anger. It is an issue concerned with the 5 crore people of Andhra Pradesh and it is about the future of the state. Now is the time to respond and condemn this kind of fear-mongering that the government is trying to create. Every person has freedom to express themselves if they believe that the government is not functioning. That doesn’t mean you try to kill them,” he said.

Additionally, Chandrababu revealed that a survey stated that most people in the state are unhappy with the government and YSRCP MLAs. “That indicates how undemocratic this government is,” he explained.
