Is BJP vying to be the Main Opposition Party in AP?

What if we are looking at everything in the wrong direction? What if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not even trying to win the election this time in Andhra Pradesh? Going by the current political scenario, the BJP knows that it cannot even win a few seats in the state, let alone an entire state election. Then, what is the saffron party’s plan in the state? How is it playing its cards in the Southern state of Andhra Pradesh? Let’s try and understand some details.

For starters, the BJP knows it has negligible presence in Andhra Pradesh. In fact, with not so strong cadre or leaders, the saffron party is not even an option for voters in AP. Additionally, the religion factor is not a point of influence in a state that is heavily obsessed with casteism. So, how exactly is BJP playing the election game this time?

Well, the YSRCP which is a friendly ally of the BJP in the state is the main driver. Of the saffron party’s strategies. While the BJP is allowing Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy to make governance destructive and drive away development from the state, it wants to ensure that it is supportive of its ally. Why? Because, the BJP needs the YSRCP’s support in the Parliament for the Lok Sabha elections in May 2024. So, the party is not retaliating against any move of the YSRCP government in the state.

Additionally, the BJP is also targeting the Jana Sena Party (JSP) which it wants to be friends with. BJP and Jana Sena have always been on friendly terms. Now, the BJP is pushing Jana Sena and its founder Pawan Kalyan to cosy upto the Telugu Desam Party for this assembly election. As a triangular friendship, the BJP wants to build a bonhomie with the TDP and hit the Telugu Desam’s votebank using Jana Sena. Slowly, the party wants to make it look like it is helping Jana Sena build its vote share in the state along with cadre. But, eventually this friendship of the BJP with Jana Sena and the TDP is for its own selfish purpose.

As a master strategy, the TDP needsto  tread carefully with the BJP as it is aware of the saffron party’s conniving moves. But, the biggest loser in the process could be Pawan Kalyan and his party, Jana Sena. While Pawan may be assuming that BJP is helping him and his party build cadre, what it is actually. Doing is building its own base for the 2029 election in Andhra Pradesh. See, the BJP always thinks ahead for the next 2 terms of elections. So, the party is actually vying not for the government but to become the principal opposition in Andhra Pradesh.

Just like how the BJP aimed to outdo every party in Telangana to shine as the main. Opposition party in the state, it is implementing the same script in Andhra too. Also, in case of Jana Sena, the BJP eventually hopes that Pawan will merge his party into the BJP just as his brother and former MP, K. Chiranjeevi, merged his political party (Praja Rajyam Party) into the Congress. So, maybe, we don’t fully understand the BJP’s strategies and moves really well, just by seeing the news.

The question here is: Will the TDP smell BJP’s foul play before elections or is the yellow party. Having its own strategy to beat the saffron party and win the assembly elections. This time in Andhra What do you think will be the outcome?
