Telangana BJP leaders on Wednesday strongly criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his remarks targeting BJP national president Nitin Nabin, accusing the Congress leader of arrogance and disrespect while intensifying the political confrontation ahead of future electoral battles.
Reacting to the Chief Minister’s comments made during the launch of the Rythu Bharosa scheme in Hyderabad on Tuesday, BJP leaders claimed that the people of Telangana would give a befitting reply to the Congress government.
Revanth Reddy’s Remarks on Nitin Nabin Trigger Row
While addressing a gathering of farmers, Revanth Reddy referred to Nitin Nabin’s recent three-day visit to Telangana and mocked his claim that the BJP would form the next government in the state.
The Chief Minister said:
“Recently, a guy came here, Nabin or whatever, I don’t really know his full name. He says the next government in Telangana will be theirs, just like they formed a government in West Bengal. It took you 15 years in West Bengal. Your tricks might have worked there because it was Mamata Banerjee. But here, all our guys are ready, and they will crush you.”
The remarks quickly sparked political reactions, with BJP leaders accusing the Chief Minister of using inappropriate language against the party’s national leadership.
Kishan Reddy Accuses Congress of Arrogance
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said respect and political etiquette were “foreign concepts” to the Congress.
He posted on X that “Arrogance precedes the fall”, alleging that Congress was trying to divert attention from governance issues.
Kishan Reddy also accused the Congress government of failed governance, corruption, broken promises, appeasement politics, and promoting dynastic rule, while asserting that BJP workers represent the voice of Telangana’s people.
Bandi Sanjay Says BJP Will Continue Its Rise in Telangana
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar also criticised the Chief Minister’s remarks.
He said that while Revanth Reddy may claim not to remember Nitin Nabin’s name, people have often forgotten his name without pretending, adding that the BJP has defeated governments far stronger in the past.
Bandi Sanjay asserted that the BJP’s growth in Telangana could happen much faster than the Congress expects.
Telangana BJP Says Congress Will Face Public Verdict
State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao alleged that arrogance has always been part of the Congress party’s political culture.
He claimed that the people of Telangana rejected arrogance in the past and would similarly reject the current Congress government.
The exchange marks the latest escalation in the ongoing political rivalry between the Congress and the BJP in Telangana, with both parties sharpening their attacks ahead of future elections.
