Air India to operate 14 weekly Bhogapuram-Delhi flights as ops shift from Vizag airport

Air India shifts all Visakhapatnam operations to the new Bhogapuram airport while continuing daily connectivity to Delhi and other major cities.

Air India announced on Sunday that all its flights operating to and from Visakhapatnam International Airport will now operate from the new Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram with the same airport code VTZ with effect from August 17.

Bhogapuram-Delhi Flights to Continue With 14 Weekly Services

The airline said it will continue to operate 14 weekly flights between Bhogapuram and Delhi, offering customers connectivity to key domestic and international destinations through its hubs.

The new terminal spread across 77,342 square metres offers enhanced passenger comfort and operational efficiency. It features 22 traditional check-in counters, 18 self-baggage drop units, advanced screening systems, state-of-the-art baggage handling facilities and seven aerobridges.

The airport will operate under the IATA code VTZ, which will be transferred from the existing airport in Visakhapatnam. The existing airport, however, will continue to be used for defence and police purposes, VIP movements and unscheduled special flights, according to officials.

Air India Adds Daily Connectivity From Bhogapuram

The Bhogapuram Airport flight schedule will remain in effect until October 24, 2026, under the current aviation timetable. Air India will operate multiple daily flights between Bhogapuram and Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Vijayawada, improving air connectivity across Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring states.

Hyderabad to Bhogapuram flights will operate twice daily under the new schedule. The daily services will offer convenient travel between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Bengaluru to Bhogapuram flights will operate twice daily under the new schedule. An additional return service will be available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
