The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has revised the Indian passport application fee, making passport-related services more expensive from July 1, 2026. The revised fee structure covers fresh passport applications, renewals, Tatkaal services, replacement of lost or damaged passports, Police Clearance Certificates (PCC), and other passport-related services.
Indian Passport Application Fee Revised from July 1
For adults, the fee for a normal application for a fresh 36-page passport or renewal has been increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500. The fee for a 60-page passport has been raised from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500.
Under the Tatkaal scheme, the fee for a 36-page adult passport has increased from Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000, while the charge for a 60-page passport has gone up from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000.
The revised passport fees will apply to all applications submitted in India and abroad from July 1, 2026.
Higher Charges for Lost, Damaged, and Minor Passports
Applicants seeking replacement passports due to loss or damage will also pay more. The fee for replacing a lost or damaged 36-page passport has increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000, while the 60-page passport replacement fee has risen from Rs 3,500 to Rs 6,000.
For a 60-page Tatkaal replacement passport, the fee has been increased from Rs 5,500 to Rs 8,500.
Passport services for children below 18 years have also become costlier. A fresh or reissued 36-page passport for minors (normal) will now cost Rs 1,750, up from Rs 1,000. Under the Tatkaal scheme, the fee has increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,250.
For replacement of lost or damaged passports for minors, the revised fee is Rs 4,250 (normal) and Rs 6,750 (Tatkaal).
PCC and Overseas Passport Fees Also Increased
Charges for Police Clearance Certificates (PCC) and other passport-related certificates have increased from Rs 500 to Rs 750. The revised structure also covers surrender certificates and other passport-linked documentation.
For Indian citizens applying through missions and consulates abroad, a fresh 36-page passport (normal) will cost $125, while the Tatkaal fee has been fixed at $250.
10% Discount Continues for Children and Senior Citizens
The Ministry has retained the 10% discount on fresh passport applications for children below eight years and senior citizens above 60 years. However, the concession will not be available for passport reissue applications.
