Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations: How Jagan govt’s religious discrimination is being exposed
A Chief Minister is someone who takes oath to be a non-discriminative person while discharging his/her duties and services for the state. But, that doesn’t look like it is the case with Andhra Pradesh.
AP Sadhu Parishad President, Srinivasananda Saraswati Swamy, has come down heavily on the Jagan government alleging that the YSRCP government is looking to destroy Hindu traditions in the state. In a blatant attack of Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, he expressed his outrage over Vinayaka Chaviti festival being disrupted in the name of Corona by the state government.
“Why are conspiracies being hatched against Hindutva? No Corona during your father’s (YSR) Jayanti celebrations? Why are the restrictions only for Hindu festivals? Did you consult any Peetadipatis while imposing this decision?,” Srinivasananda Saraswati questioned the Chief Minister.
Additionally, he said: “You have zero respect towards Hinduism. You go to Jerusalem with your entire family. Why have you never visited Hindu temples with your family? This Government is trying to convert Andhra Pradesh into a Christian state. When there are no restrictions in Telangana, why are there even such rules in AP?”
“Government should allow Ganesh festival celebrations or get ready to face the wrath of the devotees. It is surprising why Jagan’s Raja Guru, Sharada Peetam Swamiji is silent,” he wondered.

This is not the first time that religious heads are questioning the YSRCP and its moves. Even, YSRCP government’s decision to convert all Telugu-medium schools into English-medium did not go down well with the people.
“It was rumoured then that “conversions to Christianity would be made easier if schools are English-medium,” said a political expert. Meanwhile, rumours of rapid conversions of Hindus to Christianity are making rounds across AP, just as they did during Jagan’s father, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s time as the CM of united Andhra Pradesh.
While rules need to be equal for everyone, these rules during a pandemic, differentiating one cultural celebration from the other, definitely calls for attention and questions why the Jagan government is discriminative in its approach towards Hindus religious celebrations?
