Pawan Kalyan, the founder of Jana Sena Party, created the party to have a force that reinstates democratic values in Telugu states, continues to question the wrongs of governments and become a powerful voice of the Youth. However, after his initial support to the TDP in the 2014 elections, immediately after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, he decided to drift away from the TDP.
Following this, Pawan Kalyan, due to political compulsions, fell into the BJP’s trap at the national level and assumed he’d be the kingmaker in Telugu states. While he went publicly against the TDP after 2017 and decided to contest against the TDP and YSRCP in the 2019 assembly elections, his party won just one assembly seat. After YSRCP came into power in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, he even voiced his stand against the TDP and Chandrababu Naidu openly.
However, realizing the damage of the YSRCP government and Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy’s governance along with the destruction of the state on all parameters, Pawan Kalyan decided to go against the BJP and forged an alliance with the TDP for the 2024 Assembly elections. He said that this decision was taken for the welfare of the people and the development of the state, and not for political mileage. He also said that he has proposed the idea of a tri-party alliance with JSP, TDP and BJP to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and hoped that BJP would agree to join them.
Pawan Kalyan said that he decided to support TDP because of its experience and JSP’s fighting spirit, which are needed to defeat the YSRCP, which he accused of creating an environment of civil war, arresting former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and increasing atrocities against women. He said that the JSP-TDP alliance would bring in a golden future for Andhra Pradesh, by providing a safe environment for women, creating jobs for the youth, developing a jetty for fishermen, and protecting Visakhapatnam Steel Plant from privatisation.
On the other hand, his fight in Telangana elections was clearly indicative that the party doesn’t stand a chance in the state while also it weakened his stance for bargaining in AP as part of the alliance. Had the Jana Sena won or given a tough fight in the Telangana elections, it could have a better bargaining power with the TDP in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Pawan Kalyan said that he is not concerned about the posts or the vote bank, but about the transformation of the state. He said that he is ready to shoulder any responsibility for the development of the state, and that he will discuss with Chandrababu Naidu and the party cadre about who will be the Chief Minister after winning the elections. He appealed to the people to give the JSP-TDP alliance an opportunity to provide a golden governance in Andhra Pradesh.
Additionally, Pawan now needs to choose whether he needs to let go of his bitter-sweet relationship with the BJP which has been manipulating him for the last 10 years. It is time for Jana Sena to take a clear stand and stick to what their heart says, for a Better Andhra Pradesh. Also, this decision could make or break Jana Sena’s future.
