The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the official sanctioning body of professional golf in India, announced the inaugural edition of the Andhra Open 2026, which will be held here at the picturesque East Point Golf Club from April 7 to 10. The total prize purse for the event is Rs 1 crore.

The event will feature leading Indian professionals, including PGTI Order of Merit leader Saptak Talwar, Veer Ahlawat, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, Angad Cheema, Honey Baisoya, and Ajeetesh Sandhu.
The strong participation highlights the growing popularity of professional golf in India and the importance of this PGTI event on the national circuit.
International players add depth to Andhra Open 2026
The leading foreign player at the event is Sri Lankan N Thangaraja, with 18 international players from nine different countries participating.
Their presence adds global competitiveness to the Visakhapatnam golf tournament, making it a key fixture in the Indian golf calendar.
East Point Golf Club Visakhapatnam hosts major tournament
The local challenge will be led by Visakhapatnam-based professionals S Muthu and Mohammed Rahman.
The East Point Golf Club Visakhapatnam, known for its scenic layout and championship standards, has emerged as a prominent venue for Indian golf tournaments.
Amandeep Johl, CEO of PGTI, said the return to Visakhapatnam reflects the tour’s commitment to expanding professional golf in India.
He added that Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a hub for sports and tourism, with events like the Andhra Open contributing to that vision.
Historic venue strengthens Andhra Open golf tournament
M S N Raju, Secretary of East Point Golf Club, highlighted the venue’s legacy dating back to 1884 and its transformation into a modern championship course.
The club, awarded Best Renovated Golf Course in India in 2022, is hosting the event for the third time, reinforcing its reputation as a premier destination for PGTI tournaments.
