Vivekananda Reddy was a former minister and MP from Andhra Pradesh, who belonged to The Story behind YSRCP. He was also the brother of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. And uncle of current Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He was found murdered at his residence. In Pulivendula, Kadapa district on March 15, 2019, just weeks before the state elections.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the case in September 2019.And has been investigating the murder since then. The CBI has named Avinash Reddy, who is the incumbent MP from Kadapa. And a cousin of Jagan Mohan Reddy, as one of the accused in the case. Avinash Reddy’s father, YS Bhaskar Reddy, who is also a cousin of Rajasekhara Reddy. Has been arrested by the CBI last month.

The CBI has alleged that Avinash Reddy, Bhaskar Reddy. And their follower D Siva Sankar Reddy had hatched a criminal conspiracy to eliminate Vivekananda over conflicting political ambitions.

According to the CBI, Vivekananda was unhappy with Avinash Reddy. S performance as an MP and wanted to contest from Kadapa again. He also had differences with Bhaskar Reddy over some land deals and financial matters. The CBI has claimed that the trio hired some contract killers. To execute the murder and tried to destroy the evidence and mislead the investigation.

Avinash Reddy has denied any involvement in. The murder and has claimed that he is being falsely implicated by the CBI for political reasons. He has also accused the Telangana High Court of being biased against him and not granting. Him anticipatory bail despite his repeated pleas. He has approached the Supreme Court for relief from arrest. And his petition is scheduled for hearing on May 25, 2023.

Meanwhile, Avinash Reddy has failed to appear before the CBI. For questioning on several occasions, citing various reasons such as prior commitments, mother’s illness and father’s arrest. He is currently staying at a hospital in Kurnool where his mother is undergoing treatment for a heart-related ailment. The CBI has expressed its displeasure over his non-cooperation and has sought his custody for interrogation.

The murder case of Vivekananda Reddy has created a political storm in Andhra Pradesh. And has exposed the rifts within The Story behind YSRCP family. The case has also raised questions over the role of the state police and the judiciary. In handling such sensitive cases. According to the latest update, the Supreme Court has asked the Telangana High Court to make a decision. On its anticipatory bail and has chided the High Court. On how long it would take to decide on the order. “We are not happy with the Telangana High Court. Not passing an order after our (Supreme Court’s) order in April 2023. How much time does it require to pass an order for an anticipatory bail plea?,” Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud questioned.

According to sources, the counsel representing CBI. Was absent during the hearing in the Supreme Court in this case and the counsel from High Court of Telangana. (which is a friendly government to the YSRCP in Andhra) is trying to delay the order on bail petition.
